Our first meeting with Francesca has brought out many ideas, I’ve been very impatient to shoot the video. One of Francescas wishes was to be accompanied by a musician. I thought about Brice Berrend. An evidence. As I had seen him playing on stage, seeming to be one with his contrabass I have had the idea to create this blog. For this shooting we were looking for a narrow ruin, overtaken by the nature. By accident I had found it on a walk on an abandoned field. We have let us guide by the ambience of the place and the atmosphere of this summer afternoon …
Francesca Mattavelli – Dancer
Francesca was born in 1980 in Italy. She gained the diploma in the Theatre La Scala in Milan in 2000.
She then worked in the English National Ballet in London, in the Mag- gio Musicale in Florence, in the Ballet in Turin and with the violinist Angelo Branduardi.
Between 2005 and 2011 she joined the troupe of the Opéra Ballet of Lyon, which included the repertoire of William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, Maguy Marin, Trisha Brown, Odile Duboc, Catherine Diverrès, Jerome Bel, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and others.
She joined the créations with Odile Duboc, Ralph Lemon, Tere O’Con- nor, Otto Ramstad et Olive Bieringa.
From September 2011 on she worked as an independent artist/free- lancer.
She participated the movie “Les bien aimés” of Christophe Honoré as a dancer, assistant and choreographer.
Parallel to her dance training she studied in the University Bicocca in Milan and received her Master in Educational Science.
After that, she started to train ballet classes in the CND in Lyon, work- shops in the Récamier high school and she also started working in several schools for children’s workshops. !
She works at the moment for the next creation of Catherine Diverrès.
